Hugo Mathecowitsch - Tools for the Commons
The operating system for founders and projects executing a social innovation tied to physical territories. (Suited to the age of the internet).
“Próspera's Legal & Crypto Summit has been an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to meet with visionary and talented people, with a co-living experience of a few days with mind blowing experiences and thoughts. It's been a great time to be intellectually and emotionally productive on alternative governance, charter cities and network States ideas that are concepts not as commonly understood within business and even web2 internet communities. It made us feel that a world with a much better governance is possible, and will only occur if people like those present in the Summit make it happen with great communication, alignment, unity, and hard execution work.”
– Hugo Mathecowitsch
Problem:
The current "Nation State" public goods operating system is outdated due to the digital revolution, causing stagnation in physical infrastructure. This stems from both software and hardware issues.
Solution:
We are crafting a new operating system to address the outdated "Nation State" model, leveraging digital tools for collaboration in our interconnected world. This shift, inspired by successful startup practices, involves sidestepping politics, prioritizing technology, and following a "Startup-Society Playbook." This playbook encompasses an investable legal structure, international bank account, and VC networking and pitching to drive social innovation.
Sam Lin & Shirley Zhong - Scuba Diving Group Certification
Multi-living experience to build community through a locally appreciated activity.
“My week in Próspera opened my eyes to a new way of living and creating together. I was grateful to learn and be alongside visionary thinkers who pushed me to consider new ideas and methods. For an experience unlike any other place I’ve lived in I’d recommend taking a visit down to Honduras.”
– Sam Lin
My time in Próspera was truly eye-opening. My everyday highlight was to have breakfast with this close-knit community of innovators. I felt personally inspired by our collective aim to redefine the norms through innovative technology like longevity, all within Próspera's unique legal landscape. This charter city has reshaped my thinking and shown me the potential of nurturing a safe space for out-of-the-box ideas. Próspera is still young and premature and there’s so many opportunities here to help shape its development, it’s definitely a place worth checking out if you are passionate to build.
– Shirley Zhong
Problem:
Próspera faces a shortage of residents, hindering the development of a vibrant city.
Solution:
A multi-week home-living experience featuring collaborative activities and scuba diving training. The initiative aims to build a vibrant community, strengthen connections to the area, and foster relationships with locals. Organized co-living is seen as a means to enhance community building, residency, and engagement with local residents, providing an opportunity for government interaction and learning from locals. Implementation involves starting with a single hacker house and scaling up iteratively, with continuous community involvement aligned with Próspera's core values of innovation, freedom, and collaborative building, targeting individuals who share these values.
Jorge Lanza - Harvverse
Creating a digital counter-side to farms, to increase the producers’ income and incentivize the young generations to keep working on the land “digitally”.
The Problem:
Farmers face a value weakness with initiatives predominantly favoring consumers rather than enhancing the financial standing of farmers.
The Solution:
Propose a solution for farmers' value weakness by advocating increased compensation to attract investment and enhance farming techniques. Introduce the Harvverse metaverse game, engaging the younger generation in digitally sustaining farms and correlating the value of digital assets with real-world produce quality. This initiative addresses financial concerns, creates future jobs through data analysis, and invites participation from all societies, starting with coffee farming and expanding across diverse sectors within agriculture.
Niko Klein - Private Banking for the Digital Masses
Aiming to revolutionize consumer finance with an international, inclusive, and cost-effective approach in Próspera.
“Overall experience was very positive. Great mix of people, tons of alignment in terms of goals and excitement about what's being built. We started by asking the question: can Prospera be a global hub for financial services? We've expanded from that to explore leveraging the jurisdiction for a holding company, shifting substantial operations to it, and thinking of our work in Próspera as an anchor for a wider network of free-state / network-state institutions. We hope to set up our first entity before the end of the month and to get in our applications for a bank and trust company before the year's end.”
– Niko Klein
Problem:
Consumer finance is unpredictable, marked by unbanked individuals, arbitrary limits, and politicization, leading to value destruction.
Solution:
Propose an innovative solution with "Offshore" Private Banking, emphasizing its historical significance and international opportunities while acknowledging challenges like stigmatization and exclusivity. Stress the need for digital, inclusive, and cost-effective private banking to promote broader accessibility and self-sovereignty against risks. Highlight the critical role of correspondent-banking relationships in bridging offshore and traditional banking, underscoring the complexity and diligence required, particularly in compliance.
Sebastião Almeida - Lighthouse: Providing fine-grained qualifications to laborers
Provide the critical information needed to establish highly effective training and hiring processes – A skill-assessment company.
“I want to sum it up in one word: networking. Amazing network. Forward thinking people, novel ideas, and the place that brings them together and makes it happen. That's Próspera.”
– Sebastião Almeida
Problem:
Global shortage of skilled labor due to inadequate vocational training, an academic-centric education system, and a misalignment between taught and demanded skills, creating challenges for designing effective courses and materials, especially for the underprivileged.
Solution:
"Lighthouse," an online micro-credentialing system issuing NFT-based credentials on Solana for streamlined workforce hiring, training, and assessment. Highlight the value of micro-credentials as precise indicators of skills, knowledge, and attitudes.
William Milonas - Próspera Mesh Network
Set up a mesh network in Próspera for everyone to access internet connection free.
“This was the perfect conference, mixing both presentations and friendship building. I was super excited to finally see the zone I’d been hearing so much about. Próspera is gorgeous and being there you can really feel how much potential there is. It seems many bright individuals felt the same way. I was excited to see people from the DAO and free cities space. The most impactful part of the event was the care that the organizers put into making sure that we all got to know each other.”
– William Milonas
Problem:
Limited internet access in various locations due to network problems.
Solution:
Establish a self-hosted, free network in a private city for an IoT smart city with features like smart gates, temperature sensors, security monitoring, smart agriculture, and lighting. Users interact via smartphone-generated Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and smart gates connect directly to the radio using RFID cards for access. The system is decentralized and encrypted for enhanced security.
